The book tells about the life and work of Leo Epple (1900–1980) The indigenous Muscovite, a student of D. Kardovsky, in the 1930s, actively worked in the capital"s publishers, designed and illustrated the books of domestic and foreign authors. In 1941, as a “representative of German nationality,” Epple was in the Urals, first in Lesopoval, and then on a special settlement in Sosva and Irbit. From the second half of the 1940s he collaborated with the book publishing house of Sverdlovsk. His illustrations for the works of Mamin Sibiryak, Ershov and Leskov became a noticeable event for the Ural graphics, and the Town Planning Project Peshendrah aroused great interest among the creative intelligentsia
