The book tells about the least known and usually unadvertised events and facts from the history of the Siege of Leningrad. It shows the real situation with the supply of food, fuel, electricity, and ammunition. New information about life in the besieged city is provided, including negative phenomena. Also, problems related to the evacuation of Leningraders are reconsidered. The author particularly emphasizes the decisive role of artillery in the defense of Leningrad. At the same time, attention is paid to such a painful topic as the destruction of the palaces of Peterhof, Pavlovsk, and Strelna by the artillery of the Baltic Fleet. The true role of the Finnish army as the "second half" of the blockade ring is also detailed. The book is based on archival materials, previously classified official documentation, little-known memoirs, and is being published in print for the first time.
