Nikandr Alexandrovich Marx (1861-1921) was a lieutenant general in the Imperial Russian Army, as well as an archaeologist and folklorist. The "Legends of Crimea" were first published in the newspaper "Utro Rossii" in 1912 and 1913. Crimea was the writer's ancestral homeland. Near Kara-Dag, in Otuzah, was the house of his ancestors. Each gorge and mountain peak is associated with legends that were passed down orally and carefully preserved by the local residents. The collection immerses the reader in the amazing world of Crimean folklore, the unique culture, and traditions of the peninsula. The book also includes an article by Maximilian Voloshin about the author - "Traveler through the universes. The case of N. Marx."
