Irish mythology is one of the richest in Europe, second only to Greek and Latin. There were different principles of classifying legends, or sagas. One of them was the attribution of tales to a particular cycle. This edition includes sagas from mythological and historical (also known as royal) cycles. This corpus of texts is accompanied by a series of legends 'about ancient places' and other sources that have come down to us, telling about the life, customs, military deeds of the Irish people in the distant past. The conquest of Ireland and the establishment of Christianity there proceeded quite smoothly and brought literacy to the Celts. In addition, there was some continuity between the earlier cult of the Druids and the new religion. You will read about these glorious times, the main Irish saints, and 'about ancient places' in the book offered. For historians, students of historical and philological specialties, and all those interested in the history of medieval Europe. Compiler: Shkunaev S.V. 2nd edition, revised.
