In the book "Legends of Kings David and Solomon," Hayim Nahman Bialik (1873-1934) collected, reworked, and supplemented legends from the Bible, Talmud, Midrashim, commentaries, and folklore of various Jewish communities. The author draws on the Eastern European Ashkenazi tradition while simultaneously incorporating eventful and psychological accents typical of Jews in the Islamic world. The tales and legends familiar to us from canonical and literary texts, along with Bialik's original stories, allow the reader to touch upon the foundations of Jewish spirituality.
