The monograph is dedicated to the legal status of a judge's assistant in civil and arbitration proceedings. The book examines the main stages of the formation and development of the judge's assistant institution in Russia, the judicial clerk in the USA, and the Rechtspfleger in Germany. The author explores the competence of a judge's assistant in Russia, as well as court officials who assist the judge in carrying out his duties or perform essentially judicial functions in foreign countries. Significant attention is paid to the issues of the legal status of a judge's assistant and defining their place in the system of civil procedural and arbitration procedural relations. A theoretical basis is developed for changing the legal status of a judge's assistant in Russian civil and arbitration proceedings, granting the judge's assistant independent procedural powers.
