The text of the book is based on lectures of a general course of organic chemistry, which the author has been reading to students of the 3rd year of a specialized physicochemical group for 20 years for 20 years. This edition presents the first 9 lectures of the course, which make up the so -called “introductory concentration”. They include topics on the subject of organic chemistry and the main stages of its historical development, about the general issues of the structure of organic molecules and methods of describing their electronic structure, about the types of intermolecular interactions and the basics of stereochemistry. The author introduces readers to many outstanding chemical scientists. The text includes notes and comments, as well as links to additional sources for students striving for deeper coverage of the material on the topic. Control questions and tasks will help the reader learn to independently analyze new tasks and choose ways to solve them
