The classic work of the founder of social psychology Dardda is devoted to the socio-communicative activities of individuals in the form of imitation (imitation), which acts as the basis for the development of society. Under the process of imitation is understood to be elementary copying and repetition of the behavior of others. Copy and repetition processes relate to existing practices, beliefs, installations, etc., which are reproduced from generation to generation due to imitation. This process contributes to the preservation of society.
Another important concept in explaining the development of society, in trust, is an invention "(or" innovation ") as the process of adaptation to changing environmental conditions. All new things that occurs in society (whether ideas or material values) are the result of the creative activities of a few gifted personalities. Once arising, the new phenomenon acts into effect the process of imitation. The approval of all major social institutions occurred, according to Tard, precisely because ordinary people who are not able to invent something new began to imitate the creators of innovators and use their invention.
Thus, the activities of the few innovators and invented innovations are the main engine of social evolution, contributing to the development of society. It should be borne in mind that the greatest distribution is obtained by any inventions", and those that generally fit into the already existing culture and capture the main trends in the development of this society.
