One of the fundamental world problems is considered - the rights of peoples, which are a genuine expression of their national dignity. The commonality of the legitimate rights and obligations of national and ethnic communities as parts of a single kind of mankind is substantiated, the causes and consequences of non-rights, dependence, exploitation, and the operation of some are “equal” by others, as well as ways and ways to harmonize their relations are shown. International treaties on the rights of peoples, national and other minorities, as well as national and universal mechanisms for protecting these rights, have been analyzed. The need for tolerance in international affairs, respectful attitude to the values of each of the peoples, is shown.
