Based on the study of archival materials, regulatory acts, judicial practice and customs of the Russian people, the author identifies the main factors that influenced Russia during a long historical segment (from the moment of the baptism of Russia to the mid-60s of the XX century) to develop legal regulation of marriage and family relations . The monograph traces the evolution of family law from the branch of law into an independent branch of law.
