The rapid increase in the volume of heterogeneous information formed in a virtual environment led to the emergence of a phenomenon known as "big data" (Big Data) Data is today the main resource to increase the efficiency and performance of almost all sectors of the modern economy. The value of large data is actualizing the issue of the possibility and advisability of protecting these data, protecting those resources that were spent on their collection and processing. A feature of Russian and foreign legislation is the possibility of legal protection of large arrays of data with related right to databases, which, without introducing the legal protection of data as such (separate materials, elements of the database content), establishes the legal regime of the entire set of data that constitutes the content of the databases. No less important is the question of protecting the data themselves, which, being very heterogeneous, can be protected by the state in different ways.

This monograph is primarily devoted to the study of the issue of what is generally understood by the conditional term "big data", which in this area there is regulation and in which direction should be thought about its improvement. Separately, an analysis of the legal regulation of databases in Russia and abroad of the opportunities that legal security of databases provides when working with Big Data. The legal regime of data as such is considered by the example of the protection of personal data, since the processing of large data opens up unprecedented possibilities of interference in a private life, the integrity of which is guaranteed Art. 23 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation
