The sixth volume of the monograph “History of the Court and Justice in Russia” is devoted to the judiciary and proceedings of the period of the formation of Soviet power (1917-1920) The process of the formation of the court and justice of the Soviet state is shown in the first months of the Soviet regime, focused on the score of the pre -revolutionary judicial apparatus of the Provisional Government and the formation of a new proletarian court. Particular attention is paid to the characterization of extreme justice, carried out by revolutionary tribunals and revolutionary military tribunals. The activities of the Cheka were investigated, combining simultaneously the functions of a law -making, investigative and judicial authority. The features of the red terror and its legal nature are disclosed. The system of non -governmental courts authorized by the Soviet government was considered: disciplinary friendly, Shariah and arbitrators.
