The monograph gives a characteristic of a comprehensive comparison of the domestic pre -revolutionary and modern criminal process, the need is justified by the existence of various forms of trial, and the current state and prospect of development of simplified and complicated forms of trial are analyzed taking into account their own historical experience and the legal system that has developed in Russia. The most problematic issues are revealed related to the need to improve various forms of trial. Considerable attention in the work is paid to the study of simplified and complicated types of legal proceedings and a number of proposals are made to improve the legislation regulating the procedure of various forms of trial.
