The monograph is devoted to the study of the problem of control and supervisory activities in the field of criminal penalties, in connection with which the formation and development of legislation on control and supervision of penitentiary institutions in the Russian Empire, the experience of foreign countries are analyzed, and classification of the types of control and supervisory activities is given and the mechanism for the implementation of control is revealed and supervision in the theory and practice of the criminal-executive law of the Russian Federation.
The existence in the criminal executive law of the two-level intersectoral institute of control and supervision is justified.
