The monograph is devoted to one of the promising and interesting directions of laser physics - laser cooling of solid bodies. The history of the development of this direction is briefly presented and the experiments on the laser cooling of condensed media are discussed now. Particular attention is paid to the physics of cooling processes and the mathematical apparatus of their description. The problems of creating self-cooal solid-state lasers and echo-processors are investigated. One of the chapters is devoted to magnetic cooling, spin-loking and photon loking, as well as methods of narrowing of the homogeneous width of spectral lines of the carriers of information of optical echo-processors. Actual problems of optical cooling of solid -state quantum processors are also discussed. It is addressed to specialists in the field of laser physics, as well as graduate students, undergraduates and students of physical faculties of universities
