Each of us has the official name, patronymic and surname, legalized from the moment of birth. But at school, university, the native village, the factory workshop or the laboratory of many of us is called informally nicknames or nicknames. Nicknames are awarded both co-figures, thieves and popular artists, and presidents and politicians. Lapidaric, bright nickname is often a label and witty characteristic, a linguistic mirror in which the name called immediately recognizes himself.
Book X. Walter and V. M. Mokienko - the first explanatory dictionary of Russian nicknames. In it, compilers describe different types of nickname and nicknames, characteristic of Russian speech from the XIX century to the present day.
