The author of this monograph - corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.V. Bondarko - died on March 2016. The book was written, fully prepared by him for printing and was repeatedly discussed in the department of the theory of grammar or wounds. The interpretation of grammatical categories presented in the monograph is based on the theory of functional-semantic fields and categorical situations developed by the author over the past decades.
The following grammatical categories of the Russian verb are considered in the line of this theory in relation to their lexical environment: type and aspectual, time and temporality, temporary localization, taxis, personality, pledge and bastard, inclination and modality. The components of the grammatical values considered for the Russian language come into view of the author. Features of their embodiment in the Russian language cannot be described in the form of strict operational rules, therefore, in most cases, a description of categorical situations - typical contexts of using grammatical forms are involved in the analysis.
The book is addressed to a wide range of linguists interested in the theory of grammar, a typological description of the grammatical system of languages, teachers of the Russian language and can be used as a textbook on the course "Functional grammar" for undergraduates and graduate students.
