Three guns in the afternoon and other tasks in linguistics

This book contains linguistic tasks dedicated to a variety of languages ​​of the world. To solve them, special knowledge does not need: most readers, most likely, do not know Swedish and Georgian and hardly anyone knows the languages ​​of Dirbal and Streits. Nevertheless, you can choose the key to any task by understanding by logical reasoning how an unknown language works and how it differs from Russian. Each task is accompanied by prompts, a detailed solution and, most importantly, an afterword in which interesting language phenomena presented in the task are discussed more detailed. The materials of the collection were published on the popular science website “Elements”, but were significantly processed and supplemented for this book.
