The manual is aimed at the formation of basic competencies and skills of ownership and recognition of English -speaking speech. It consists of four parts: history, lexicology, stylistics and theoretical phonetics of the English language. The text is stated both in Russian and in English, which contributes to a deeper and more detailed understanding of the students of the material being studied. At the end of each part, tasks for independent work and exercises are given to test the understanding of the studied material.
