The manual is written in the framework of cognitive ethnolinguistics, the purpose of which is to reveal in the national-cultural picture of the world of Indo-European peoples mythological ideas that reflected the formation of the model of the surrounding world existing in the "household consciousness". Numerous fragments of Indo -European mythology are systematized, which are reflected in various aspects of the language picture of the world and described in the mythological and ethnolinguistic literature. Particular attention is paid to the paradoxes of a number of language categories of nouns, the explanation of which is difficult among philologists. The data of mythology, linguistics, literature, psychology, archeology, ethnography, ethology and some natural sciences are involved.
