The author represents his own understanding of the role and functions of various linguistic means as a necessary factor in the formation of a natural science (scientific and geological) knowledge. On the example of a scientific metaphor, linguistic and socio -humanitarian components of a scientific narrative, the trends of humanization and humanization of natural science knowledge, as well as the possibility of scientific thought from linguistics to extralinguistics, are demonstrated. A three-level model of geological and economic cognition is proposed, consisting of consistently interacting intra linguistic, supraralinguistic and extralinguistic types of knowledge. The monograph also contains an overview of modern linguistic thought both in the field of the general theory of language and in the field of cognitive linguistics.
