The textbook includes excerpts from the most significant works of domestic and foreign scientists. It is aimed at the formation of knowledge about the theoretical foundations of sociolinguistics and its concepts, about the social varieties of the language and their language correlates, about the methods of sociolinguistic research, the principles of selection, analysis and processing of speech material, about the problems of the legal status of Russian and other languages of the Russian Federation, about language policy states to change or preserve the functional distribution of languages or linguistic subsystems.
The manual also contains a brief overview of Russian and foreign studies in the field of sociolinguistics of the XXI century, aimed at forming a general idea of the topics of modern sociolinguistic research in Russia and abroad. Particular attention is paid to the results that can be used in solving problems facing legal linguistics, as well as in the production of legal speech examinations.
For students studying in the direction of 40.05.03 "Forensic Expertise" with a specialization of "speech examinations", will be useful to teachers in preparation for lectures and practical classes
