The collective monograph presents two interconnected approaches to the study of the phenomenon of polymodality (multimodality): the study of polymodal discourse and the use of polymodal technologies for discursive analysis. Thus, polymodality is first shown simultaneously as a property of discourse and as a research attitude. The material of Russian, English and German languages analyzes oral and written discourse in its different manifestations - oral descriptions of painting works, theatrical productions, film aids, novels, social posters. The studies are performed from cognitive positions, and the interaction of various modalities (speech and gestures, speech and video sections, text and images) are studied from the point of view of cognitive mechanisms (de) focusing, conceptual integration, resonance, fictitious communication underlying the coordination of different semiotic systems in Discourse.
