Max Jacob (1876-1944) is one of the key figures in French poetry of the 20th century. "Singer with many votes", he was a man of contrasts in both life and in verses. Jacob is a witness and participant in the most important events of the "beautiful era", a friend of Picasso, Apolliner, Coctea. Jacob occupied an important place in the circle of Parisian bohemia of the beginning of the century, later he lived a hermit at the monastery in a small town on Loire and died in the transit camp of Dransi near Paris.
