Gabriela d"annunzio (1863-1938) is a non-equally talented Italian poet and writer, politician and military pilot. His novels “Giovanni Episcopo”, “Innocent” and “Triumph of Death” beat the records of popularity. They were read out not only in Italy, but also in France and Russia.
The basis of the novel Innocent was the fragment of the Donjuan biography of d"annunzio.
Against an outwardly favorable background in an aristocratic Italian family between spouses, Tullio and Julian, a serious psychological struggle is played out, which leads to a tragic denouement. An attentive reader will undoubtedly find in the text of the novel a number of parallels with the work of Russian classics, F. M. Dostoevsky and L. N. Tolstoy.
The novel was filmed by Lukino Visconti.
The work is printed without abbreviations and addressed to lovers of the Italian language
