Linguistics in ancient India is an extensive topic, therefore, only the main directions of development of ancient Indian linguistic thought will be considered in the proposed monograph - treatises on phonetics, semantics and grammar. Particular attention is paid to the two most important for Indian science of the essays - glossary Nighanta (together with the YASKOY compiled on the basis of this text by the NIKTUT treatise) and the grammar of Panini. Linguistics in ancient India attracts the attention of philosophers, philologists and linguists, however, a few texts in Russian about ancient Indian linguistics created by Indologists and addressed to a narrow audience are often complex and require special training. The author tried to tell the language of a wide circle of readers about the formation of a unique linguistic tradition that significantly influenced the development of world science about language. It is hoped that this work, addressed to all the culture and linguistics of ancient India, including students, graduate students and teachers of philological faculties of universities, will be useful and interesting to all my readers
