Ancient classical languages, Greek and Latin, during a very large period of church history have been the languages of the Christian Church. They gave us Christian truths in the Holy Scriptures, patristic creations and decrees of cathedrals. That is why the study of the Latin language is mandatory in theological schools of the Russian Orthodox Church.
In this manual, an attempt is made to preserve the modern method of presenting the material with a significant expansion of the number of examples and topics of the exercises for translating by texts from Vulgata and Latin Christian writers, which will increase as the course is held. The lessons are comprehensively outlined grammar and syntax, and the exercises are equipped with a full dictionary, which largely facilitates the work of students on the text, while the repeatability of words contributes to their better assimilation.
This textbook can be addressed to both students of theological schools and secular educational institutions students in the field of training 48.03.01 Theology, as well as to everyone who is interested in the study of ancient languages.
It is recommended for publication by the Publishing Council of the Russian Orthodox Church IS R19-903-0102.
