We represent the doctoral dissertation Leonora Aleksandrovna Chernyakhovskaya (linguist, translator, doctor of philological sciences, member of the board of the Union of Translators of Russia), protected in 1983. Many years have passed since the date of its protection, but it seemed to us important and interesting to introduce the reader to work, which largely determined the further development of domestic translation science and today remains relevant.
