The book is an adaptation of the fairy -tale story of the famous Swedish writer Selma Laherlef (1858-1940) “The wonderful journey of Nils Holgerss in Sweden” in English. This story, widely known in our country, was the pinnacle of the writer’s work, thanks to which she received worldwide recognition. In her fascinating form, it tells about the boy Nielsa, enchanted by the gnome and became very small, who, along with a flock of wild geese, travels all over Sweden on the back of the goose of Martin. The brutal mischief and careless lazy, Niels gradually learns kindness, the ability to empathize and take care of others, sometimes donating his own interests. Having become a real person not in words, but in fact, Niels, in the end, deserves the forgiveness of a magic gnome and again becomes an ordinary boy.
This manual was developed in accordance with the new requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard (Federal State Educational Standard) It will help students of elementary school prepare for the compulsory for each student the final exam in English in the new format, which is introduced this year.
After each chapter of the manual, the comment and translation of difficult words and expressions follow, as well as exercises that take into account the new requirements of the final certification. They are aimed not only at testing the understanding of the text, but also at the development of vocabulary, grammar, as well as the development of the skills of reading, listening, oral speech, and letters. Exercises have two levels of complexity, which makes it possible for each student to demonstrate his own level of knowledge and skills.
At the end of the book, a dictionary is given, a test in the format of the final exam for the 4th grade, including audit tasks, as well as answers to all exercises and test tasks.
