The book is an adaptation of the adventure story of the famous American writer, the classic of "terrible" and the detective novel Edgar in (1809 - 1849) "Golden Beetle". This is an exciting story about pirate treasures, the key to the whereabouts of which was encrypted. The main character of the story, William Legrand, managed to solve it, using the laws of cryptography - science on methods of encryption of information. Two finds helped him in this - a large beetle of a gold color, similar to a bug -sheet, and an old parchment piece with at first glance, numbers and symbols at first glance.
This manual will help students in general education secondary schools prepare for the final certification in English in the format of the Unified State Examination in the section "Reading".
The text of the manual is adapted for educational purposes to the level of Intermediate. Each chapter is accompanied by a comment, translating difficult words and expressions, as well as exercises in the format of the USE of the “Reading "section, presented by all three types of examination tasks. Performing exercises will give students the opportunity to gain experience and form the ability to complete and partial understanding of texts, which will easily cope with such tasks in a real exam.
At the end of the manual, answers to the tasks are placed and the English-Russian dictionary.
