The monograph considers the role of foreign languages and cultures in different periods of development of our Fatherland from the X century. To the present, the features of the use of ancient Greek and Latin languages are revealed, the place of Latin in the daily life of Russians, Orthodoxy and the role of classical languages in science are analyzed. The study in connection with a limited volume is concentrated on the description of the influence of classical (Latin and ancient Greek) and new European languages and cultures (German, French and English) The book analyzes the history and current state of the interlawed and intercultural contacts in our Fatherland and their influence on the formation of the sociolinguistic situation in it. Particular attention is paid to the disclosure of the relationship between the type of culture (ideal, idealistic, sensual) and the spread and study of foreign languages. The monograph includes the results of a study of the history of teaching and studying foreign languages in Russia, the relationship of this process with the development of culture and education.
