The book presents folklore materials that were not recorded by folklorists. They fell on material media in other ways: in the process of existing or as a result of the collecting work of lovers. The first section was compiled by handwritten school albums-songwriters of 1909 and 1935-1937, the second-amateur collections of ditties of the 1920s. Publications are accompanied by comments and introductory articles that reveal the relevant historical, biographical, folkloristic and proper folklore contexts of each of the published documents. The book not only provides researchers with an array of materials not previously published, but also creates a new occasion to continue the theoretical discussion about the nature of folklore and the subject of folklore.
The collection is conceived as the beginning of an ongoing publication, the subsequent issues of which are planned to be devoted to folk collections of jokes, folklore records in ego-documents, network folklore and other materials recorded without the participation of professional folklorers.
The publication is addressed to folklorists, anthropologists, art historians, philologists and historians, as well as everyone who is interested in cultural processes and folklore phenomena of the twentieth century.
