The science fiction novel "451 degrees Fahrenheit" saw the light in 1953, but in the 21st century the reader will find in this anti-utopia there are many parallels with modernity. The action takes place in the future, in the "happy" society of consumption, in which the government does everything possible so as not to overshadow the existence of its citizens. Living human communication is minimized, and books are destroyed in order to avoid unnecessary thoughts, fluctuations and sadness. In the ears of people - miniature headphones, from which music is continuously pouring and advertising slogans are heard. The protagonist, firefighter Guy Montag, enthusiastically fulfills his duties, burning books and houses of their owners. However, gradually doubts about the correctness of the established order creep into the soul of Montag. It opens a difficult path of awareness of what is happening. Montag longs to gain true freedom - the ability to think independently, make decisions and bear responsibility for its choice: the text is reduced and adapted. Level B1.
