The thematic breadth of this publication is fully determined by the semiotic approach, when the events of the past are considered in the context of the history of culture, that is, a changing worldview. This approach involves the reconstruction of a system of representations that determine both the perception of certain events in a given society and the reaction to these events, which is the immediate impulse of the historical process. In this case, the researcher is interested in causal relationships at the level that in the closest way - directly, and not indirectly - is correlated with the event plan. Thus, the authors of the collection, for the most part, famous philologists and historians, try to see the historical process through the eyes of its participants, consciously distracting from the objective historiographic tradition, retrospectively describing the events from the external point of view
