The publication offered to your attention is the abbreviated version of the popular explanatory dictionary of the Russian language edited by D.N. Ushakov. It contains about 85 thousand words and phrases of modern Russian language.
In the preparation of the book, modern requirements were taken into account: outdated, low -use words and expressions were removed from the former edition of the dictionary.
During the preservation of the basic lexicographic principles of the dictionary, new terms and meanings are added to it, the interpretation of some words has been changed
