The enterological dictionary includes more than 3,000 ordinary, “normal” Russian words that are given a deliberately incorrect, humorous interpretation, like lead - a pig’s male or a nudist - a boring speaker. The game with a word has long been in the traditions of Russian literature, starting from N.S. Leskova and A.P. Chekhov and ending with S. Dovlatov and L. Petrushevskaya. Enthimological dictionary was widely popular in the 70s of the twentieth century, when, under the name “Explanatory Etymological Dictionary (TPP)”, he was published in the “Literary Newspaper” and was awarded the Golden Calf Award. Since then, many links and reviews have appeared on the dictionary, it has been used in the educational process, since the condition of the comic effect is the word -formation plausibility of interpretations. Of particular interest is the vocabulary material for psycholinguists. The book contains the first complete collection of “Enthimology”, which have deep roots in the national mind and representing interest to modern science thanks to linguistic subtext.
