This monograph reveals the basic laws of the semantics and functioning of the vocabulary of the English language, which reflects human emotions. An analysis of emotions is carried out according to the scheme: from the dictionary to the field, and from it-to the text, that is, both in the systemic and communicative plans.
The categorization of human emotions in the lexical and semantic system --- according to the components of semantics, by the types of vocabulary, according to its various groups, as well as the functioning of this system in the expression of emotions, in contrast to their description and designation, is first studied.
A wide range of problems of the emotional semantics of the language, the solution of which is an urgent task of modern general linguistics and is of important applied significance for lexicography, translation, pragmatists of interpersonal and interethnic communication and communicative space of the media.
