Reprint from the publication. Kharkov 1917. Kulbakin - researcher of living Slavic languages and dialects, monuments of ancient Slavic writing, the Old Slavonic language. His book is an exemplary example of using a comparative historical method in the reconstruction of the sound system of the language in its development. The work was translated into several languages and throughout the world is considered the most important manual to introduce into Slavic philology. Kulbakin Stepan Mikhailovich (1873, Tiflis -1941, Belgrade) -Russian philologist -Slavist, paleographer, professor of Kharkov and Belgrade universities, member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences. In the USSR, Kulbakin"s works were not published. The circulation of 30 copies.
