The attention of readers is offered a book by an outstanding Russian philologist, historian, publicist and poet, literary critic K.S. Aksakov (1817-1860), dedicated to the study of Russian grammar. The first part of the book is an article in which the author expresses his thoughts about the grammatical separation of the language in general and the Russian language in particular, and also critically analyzes the grammatical theory of V.G. Belinsky about various parts of speech as certain members of the sentence. The second part of the book presents a brief study of two categories of words: an adjective as an abstract form of a name expressing the property or quality of the subject, and the preposition that Aksakov characterizes as “abstract content, the root of the name”.
