The restless main heroine Connie suffers because her husband returned from the war crippled and requires constant care. She is young, and such a fate is not for her. Connie seeks an outlet for her poorly understood passions and cannot understand what is happening to her. It seems she loves her husband and, having read poetry in her youth, knows that true love is a sublime, spiritual feeling. But there is no peace; her body craves another, physical love. And the choice of object is not so important. It becomes the gamekeeper Mellors - a rather strange, detached from life man, who has not found himself, hating everyone and everything around. But with her readiness to give herself entirely to him, Connie wins Mellors over, and he embarks on a path that may lead them to happiness.
This book is a hymn to sensuality, which becomes love if it is nourished by tenderness.
