The leadership presents clinical indications for the appointment of laboratory tests in newborns, sets out approaches to the correct prescription of tests from the standpoint of evidence -based medicine.
Critical values of the results of laboratory tests are given that require the provision of immediate medical care. Much attention is paid to the preparation of newborns for laboratory research and technology for taking the samples of biological material for tests. A systematic analysis of the possibilities of modern laboratory research methods in the diagnosis of diseases, transition and pathological conditions during the newborn, screening of genetic pathology. The values of reference values for full -term and prematurely newborns, infants with a low body weight for a large number of laboratory tests are given. The approaches to assessing the results of laboratory tests are comprehensively considered.
