The book is dedicated to the life and activities of the first known by the name of the Russian mathematician and calendar, the Novgorod monk Kirik (1110 after 1156), which wrote in 1136 a scientific treatise on the account of time and a complex calendar -mathematical task for calculating Easter Day. Having become a priest, Kirik created a new work - "questioning". It attracts the attention of researchers as a unique source on the history of morals of Ancient Russia. This book is written on the basis of the texts of the works of Kirik Novgorodets using new domestic and foreign materials that significantly expand the idea of Kirik’s contribution to science.
