Janusz Korczak (1878–1942) was an outstanding Polish doctor, educator, and writer who dedicated his entire life to other people's children. He founded an orphanage in Warsaw where children who had lost their parents lived, studied, and were raised. Having lived a life worthy of respect, Janusz Korczak died a hero – during World War II, he perished in a concentration camp along with his young charges, refusing the freedom offered to him. One of the writer's most famous works is the fairy tale novella "King Matt the First." It tells the story of the kind and compassionate young King Matt, who wholeheartedly wished to make the lives of people in his kingdom better. However, he faced numerous difficulties and disappointments on this challenging yet noble path.
