The classic story of Anton Pavlovich Chekhov is first published in Russian with illustrations by Natalie Parien.
Natalie Parien (Natalya Georgievna Chelpanova), the daughter of the famous Russian psychologist and philosopher Chelpanov Georgy Ivanovich. Natalia Chelpanova entered the Stroganov school, studied with P.P. Konchalovsky, in 1922 she graduated from Vhutemas, and in 1926 she married the attache on the culture of the French embassy of Bris Parien. So Natalie Parien was in France. She collaborated with leading children"s publishers of France and in the 1950s created unique illustrations for the works of Tolstoy, Chekhov, to Russian folk tales and works of French authors. She received great recognition.
