Kalevala

Children"s (prose) version of the Karelian-Finnish epic "Kaleval" appeared in our country in 1953. It was at that year that the book was published that contained the retelling of Alexandra Lyubarskaya, illustrated by Nikolai Kochergin.
And for the author of the text, and for the author of the illustrations "Kalevala" became the theme to which they were treated for several decades, processing and complementing the initial versions. The writer continued to grind phrases, and the artist did more and more new sheets, striving for the limit image form. As a result, N. Kochergin created two independent versions of the book: black and white and color. The first is considered a stronger, more responding northern theme epic, more piercing, or something. However, the black and white version is actually colorful. It seems that the black and white she turned out to be because the then polygraphists simply could not reproduce the complex shades invented by the artist
