Among the buddhologists-tibetologists, Edward Henning (1949–2016) earned a reputation as a Western expert on Kalachakra literature, a disseminator of information about this tradition and its yogic practice, as well as a researcher of the Tibetan calendar. His articles, containing unique materials often taken from Tibetan commentaries on the Kalachakra Tantra, compiled by eminent masters of the Jonang tradition such as Jetsun Taranatha and Bamda Gelek Tubten Gyamtso, became a source of materials for this collection on the Kalachakra Tantra.
