When I was approximately as in this photo, I already had a favorite book - the children"s poems Vladimir Mayakovsky:
"This little book is about the sea and about the lighthouse ...". All pages I painted with colored pencils - not only because I loved to draw: the post-war, the book was published modestly, with black and white pictures, and I wanted the sun, the sea, the light, "color" sound, which are crowded with poems. And I also wanted letters in the book were large - such as on theatrical stands that were my first alphabet. Mom went to the store for the products, and I left me about such a cupboard, and while she stood in the queues, I drove my finger on the braced bills and learned to read. And so, when I began to write for children, these early memories were very important. I realized that in children"s verses could not do without color sounds and large letters. And now I try so that in every new book they met as often as possible. Actually, about it - and in the book you hold in your hands
