November is the darkest month in any time, especially dark. The ability to somehow suppress the continuing darkness in order to help the mind withstand, has been proven by poetry (as evidenced by collective anthologies and poetry readings) - including those published in the penultimate issue of the year: 'In large crowns made of maple leaves' by Svetlana Kekova, 'Ode to the capture of the Kahovka Sea' by Dmitry Baka, 'Never old again' by Zoe Mezhirovaya, '50 grams of draft vodka' by Vyacheslav Kharchenko. The debut and immediately in the major prose of the well-known Moscow artist Ekaterina Kornilova became her family saga 'And we were all like little birds', where along with unfamiliar figures to the reader, iconic names of the dissident (and near) literary circle appear - poet Vladimir Kornilov (father), poet and human rights activist Natalya Gorbanevskaya, prose writer, author and employee of 'Znamya' Galina Kornilova (mother) and others, warm, familiar and close people for a growing girl. Not for the first time, 'Znamya' publishes stories by young writer Dmitry Lagutin from Bryansk, Lydia Sheinina, for the first time - Alexander Liventsov and Peter Lobanov (with a preface by Maya Kucherskaya).
The memoir essay by Irina Zorina-Karyakina is clearly and specifically titled: 'Perestroika. Mikhail Gorbachev'. Alexei Ulyukaev continues his notes about his 'Prison' (see beginning in No. 4). Valery Esipov and Sergey Solovyov, researchers of Varlam Shalamov's biography and creative work, interview the well-known philologist S.Yu. Neklyudov, son of Olga Neklyudova, the writer's second wife (section 'Oral Speech'). In the section 'Not Passed', there are 'Notes of a Happy Person', author - Yuri Tsvetkov, poet and one of the organizers of Moscow's literary life. Our colleague and regular author Sergey Borovikov continues his 'Commas' from the cycle 'In the Russian Genre'. Danil Shved closely examines the 'Phenomenon of Oleg Grigoriev. Folklore in the Leningrad Underground', Alexander Markov re-educates philosophical publications in journals of this year.
In the 'Observer' section - reviews of new books by Ilya Kochergin (Tatiana Veretenova), Ekaterina Manoylo (Daria Ledneva), Leonid Aleksandrovsky (Evgeny Dobrov), Aidar Khusainov (Shevket Keshfidinov), Oksana Vasyakina (Ekaterina Ageeva), Alexander Chantsev (Elena Sevryugina), Golubchik-Gostov (Natalya Sterkina), Ella Gankina (Ilya Galeev), Olga Bogdanova (Alexander Lusy). Dmitry Bavilsky tells about the exhibition of Ivan Lubennikov in the halls of ROSIZO in the spring of this year. Alexander Markov presents the unfamiliar journal 'Tavolga'. Ksenia Sinitsyna - the play 'I Hate Hamlet' at the St. Petersburg Music Comedy Theater. Olga Balla in 'Skoropisi' combines the books 'Empty Trains of 2022', 'Planet Almeria' by Elena Danchenko and 'Portugaliaponia' by Konstantin Bogdanov under the sign of understanding, interpretation, and the use of meanings of space in a work of art.
