Jansug Kakhidze was a great Georgian musician: a conductor, songwriter, singer, and cultural figure. It is difficult to overestimate his contribution to the development of musical art in Georgia in the last thirty years of the 20th century. He managed to elevate symphonic and operatic performance to a new level, changing the tone of the entire Georgian culture. He received broad international recognition, and only an untimely death prevented him from making a final leap to the absolute leaders of the global music scene. The book contains conversations with Kakhidze, his musings on music and performance, and testimonials from the international press. An article by the prominent musicologist Givi Ordzhonikidze is dedicated to analyzing Kakhidze's work. The picture is complemented by conversations with Kakhidze's friends and family members, as well as a complete repertoire of the great conductor.
