PAL RAM (b. 1954) - the famous Hungarian writer, sociologist by profession. His novel “Jadwiga Pill” is a bright example of modern Hungarian literature, alas, little known in Russia. The diary of the protagonist, a resident of the Slovak village, which he led from 1915 to 1923, is dedicated to the “small passions of the human ", but behind the fate of the characters there is the annals of the existence of the national minority, first in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and then in independent Hungary. The author surprisingly managed to reproduce the diary style of that time, inspired by boulevard literature, newspaper hurra-patriotic cliches and worldly prudence. Andrash notes, continued by his wife Jadwiga and her son Micha, is a mirror of universal confusion, who reigned in Eastern Europe of the first half of the twentieth century
